Terror Threat At Indias 3Cs Mall

Posted: 15 May 2009 10:37 PM PDT

There is an unusual calm, amid hectic police activity, in the Lajpat Nagar

market these days.

The popular 3Cs Mall and the entire area around it has been turned into a

fortress after the Delhi Police received specific security inputs that the
building would be blown up in the next 15 days.

According to sources in the Southeast district police, they got inputs from
intelligence agencies about a possible threat to the mall a few days ago.
After the message was forwarded to the local police, they cordoned off the

entire market.

Intelligence agencies reportedly told the police that the Army had recovered a

sketch of the mall from a few terrorists arrested by it recently and that
their interrogation revealed a threat to the mall.

The police sources said the present security arrangements were under the

direct supervision of an assistant commissioner of police. A senior officer is

present at the site round the clock.

Homeland Security Terror Drill Planned for NY’s Ground Zero

Posted: 15 May 2009 08:51 AM PDT

Hundreds of New York police and firefighters will conduct an emergency

drill on Sunday at the World Trade Center rail station, according to city
officials’ announcement.

The “major, multi-agency emergency response drill” will require closing for
five-and-a-half hours the PATH Station at the World Trade Center, which

links southern Manhattan and the New Jersey town of Newark.

Several streets in the neighborhood of lower Manhattan — the location of Ground

Zero in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks — will be closed to pedestrians

and others will be barred to drivers.

Emergency vehicles will arrive in the area “with lights and sirens as they would in

an actual emergency,” the statement from the Port Authority and transport
authorities said.

“The drill will begin at 8 am (0400 GMT) and involve hundreds of emergency
responders….

The drill will last for approximately two hours.”
