Tip of the Month

"Avoiding Burnout—Looking for the Best People"

By Kelly Cook, National Field Director

with contributions by Jennifer Hammond, Mission Viejo Co-Chapter Leader

This tip will do more to give you confidence on sharing your concerns about radical Islam than anything we could offer.

Here's the big picture: We need 1 million members. The good news is that we have over 300 million Americans from which to find them! The ramifications of this fact, when related to your personal mission to bring volunteers on board, are stunning.

The first one is relax. You don't HAVE to "convert" anyone to your position! "Sort for the red apples: the ones that are ripe and ready to hear."

Instead, spend time (and blog "ink") where you're most likely to find other common sense individuals who just want to protect our country as well. Every time a new threat or disaster emerges, simply tell your friends or post on sites such as facebook / blogs : "This will eventually affect all of us if we don't do something now. Join http://www.actforamerica.org/
We will stop this threat and protect our nation. We need you to join now!" Those who get it will join. It will be second nature to them. Don't sweat the rest. Really.

Latest on Capitol Hill

By: Lisa Piraneo

Amidst all this legislative and political chaos, ACT! for America continues to grow in strength and in numbers. Members of Congress are hearing from their ACT! for America constituents back at home on issues such as Shariah Compliant Finance, as well as about their support for the legislative proposals that ACT! has designated as "high priority" (see the Legislative Tab at http://www.actforamerica.org/).

In addition, ACT! for America's active participation in a coalition working to remove the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed from New York has appeared to pay off. All indications point to the Administration back-peddling from this decision, although no formal statement has yet to come from either the White House or the Department of Justice. In addition, it appears that the Administration is also reconsidering the decision to try Guantanamo detainees and other "enemy combatants" in civilian court instead of military tribunals—though, again, no formal statement has been made on this matter.

The bottom line is that we continue to live in dangerous time, but we are making progress. Now is the time for us to shift into an even higher gear and to continue to hold our elected officials' feet to the fire.
Many on Capitol Hill and other coalition participants are looking to ACT! for America to continue to lead the way. We are prepared to do so.

CHAPTER LEADER OF

THE MONTH

CONGRATULATIONS to DAVID GOLDBERG and the great volunteers in his South Palm Beach Chapter.

They just held a chapter meeting with well over 400 people in attendance last week!

In addition, the chapter has also recently hosted a very successful, Citizens-in-Action Training Conference and will play a major role in Brigitte Gabriel's upcoming event in Pompano Beach on March 11. (See website for details)

We salute the hard work invested by the wonderful volunteers of this chapter!
