Update on Our National Blogging Program

By: Kelly Cook, National Field Director

Great news! In the past month, we have been diligently training volunteer writers and issuing them their own blog websites. To date, we have approximately 50 separate sites established!

To check out our progress,

We are embarking on an effort that has the potential to explode our collective influence on internet search engines, which in turn will greatly increase our chapters, volunteers and supporters!

Can you imagine doing a Google, Bing or other search on any term related to radical Islam and have our ACT! for America site pop up among the top five spots—every time?

When we are successful in this project which by the way, only a genuine national grassroots network could ever dream of accomplishing,
you will be in a position to help us literally define the debate for decades to come!
Whoever defines the debate usually wins.

I need more writers. I need several hundred writers. You don’t have to be a great writer, just someone who cares and who can competently string a sentence together. That’s it.

We will be training you on everything you need to know and do. In fact, we’ll be having weekly webinars that will be available to all volunteer writers that will go over all the details. We archive the webinar training every week in case you can’t make it on the live webinar. In this way, you can stay caught up on your own schedule.

I also want to be very clear on time commitment. This won’t take a lot of your time! We will do the heavy lifting in terms of content. We just need your help to take it virally over the internet.

To check out our webinar archives over the last several weeks or to listen in to our next live webinar, email Ashley for details at acraig@actforamerica.org

You don’t have to wonder if this project will have any impact. This could be the key that unlocks our ability to finally reach anyone searching for all issues pertaining to radical Islam. The potential outcome will be stunning in terms of protecting all we hold dear.

CHAPTER LEADER OF THE MONTH

Dorrie O’Brien from Dallas, Texas!

We’re sure glad Dorrie O’Brien is on our side! She is about as relentless and determined as they come. Dorrie’s been a faithful chapter leader and mentor in the Dallas area for some time, but this month she’s really outdone herself.

We are proud to announce that Dorrie has successfully led the effort to insert anti-sharia language in the Texas GOP platform!

In a note to headquarters in mid-June, Dorrie relates the following:

“Hi, all,

I am extremely pleased to tell you that the delegates to the Republican Party of Texas state convention yesterday adopted new wording in its platform (page 2, 9th plank):

Preservation of Republican Form of Government:
". . . We urge the Texas legislature and United States Congress to enact legislation prohibiting any jurisdiction from allowing any substitute or parallel system of law, specifically, but not limited to, Sharia law, to be recognized, which is not in accordance with the Constitution of Texas or of the United States of America."

“This is outstanding. I and anybody else who wants to can take this to the Texas House to work with legislators sympathetic to the blight that is Shariab>

law (and I know a few who are) to craft a bill that can become a law that will make it a crime of sedition to teach or use Sharia law in any mosque or madrassa or Sharia court in the state.

“I want to send a special thank you to 3 members of the platform committee, Richard Steenson, Rick Miller, and Nelda Epps for their staunch support in seeing to it that the plank wasn't watered down by taking out the reference to Sharia law. I know they had stiff opposition from those afraid to "name the enemy," but they got it through. As far as I'm concerned, they've just made the first major step to saving the state and possibly the U.S.

“And of course I want to thank everybody who supported me thru this whole adventure of getting a plank in the platform! Everybody's enthusiasm and backing was just excellent help.”
~Dorrie

Dorrie O’Brien is a beautiful example of what can happen when you are determined to see a project through to completion. Well done!

Congratulations Dorrie!
