Florida Family Association has sent out four email alerts that encouraged supporters to send emails to members in three committees in the Florida Legislature. These emails encouraged Florida law makers to support legislation titled Application of Foreign Laws in Certain Cases (HB 1209, SB 1360). This legislation would prohibit certain provisions of foreign laws including Sharia law from being considered by Florida courts if they do not afford the same liberties, rights and privileges guaranteed by the Florida and US Constitution.

The last email alert sent out early on the morning of Thursday, February 23, 2012 again asked supporters to send emails to members of the Florida Senate Budget Subcommittee on Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations. The alert also asked supporters to again “please consider calling Senator Ellyn Setnor Bogdanoff Chairman of the Budget Subcommittee on Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations and politely encourage her to move SB 1360 for a vote by the subcommittee.”

The Senate Budget Subcommittee on Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations Chair has scheduled SB 1360 for consideration on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.

Thus far, three committees have approved this legislation with only one dissenting vote. To read the full details at Floridafamily.org click here.

This legislation has passed all of the assigned committees in the Florida House and is ready to be heard by the full house of representatives. However, this legislation must pass in this senate subcommittee.

CAIR (Council on Islamic Relations) is lobbying heavily against this legislation. Click http://www.facebook.com/CAIRFlorida to see CAIR Florida Facebook action against this Florida Legislation summarized as “Check out my latest campaign by Constant Contact. CAIR Tampa urges community members to oppose Senate Bill 1360 and House Bill 1209:”

If Florida courts accept provisions of Islamic Sharia law or other foreign laws and legal codes which are inconsistent with American laws it will undermine public policies enacted by our representative form of government and change our value system.
