Breaking News on Benghazi: McCain: 'We have had a massive cover-up' By Jonathan Helman February 17th, 2013 CNN.com Sen. John McCain said Sunday that he is still looking for answers to what he called "a massive cover-up" in the aftermath of the attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, in September. "The information has not been forthcoming," McCain said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "I know that it hasn't, and I will be glad to send you a list of questions that have not been answered." Among those questions, he said, were inquiries about the president's actions and whom he spoke to the night of the attack. McCain also wants to know why people who were evacuated from the consulate the next day were not interviewed at the time. "They would have known that it was not a spontaneous demonstration," he said. Initial talking points from the government stated that the attack stemmed from a spontaneous protest over an anti-Islam film, but the intelligence community later defined the violence as a planned terrorist attack. Click here to read the full article on CNN.com The State of the Union Can Never Be Considered Stronger When We Fail to Help Fellow Americans Under Attack Scott Taylor, a former Navy SEAL and president of OPSEC, issued the following statement in response to President Obama's State of the Union statement that "we will do whatever we must to protect those who serve their country abroad" and the contrast with his Administration's failure to order a real-time military response to the 8-hour long assault on Americans in Benghazi: "At the most basic level the strength of our union is best measured by our willingness to come to the aid of our fellow Americans in need. No need was more grave than that of the Americans under attack in Benghazi last September 11th, but the Obama Administration failed to order available military assets to their immediate aid during the 8 hours when they might have meant the difference between life and death. Panetta's Excuses for Lack of Benghazi Response Fail to Align with Facts, Put Americans at Risk in the Future Scott Taylor, a former Navy SEAL and president of OPSEC, issued the following statement on Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta's comments about the lack of a U.S. military response to the Benghazi attack in advance of his testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee today: "Secretary Panetta's excuses for the failure to launch a military relief effort during the Benghazi attack fail to align with the facts and put Americans at grave risk in the future. The Obama Administration knew Benghazi was a flash point and that the most obvious day of the year for possible strikes was approaching, yet it still failed to prepare for a potential response and chose not to order one when it became necessary."
