IS uses Twitter to find new recruits, women for militants
Moscow/Baghdad:
Militants of the Islamic State are using the social media and other
advanced Internet technology to inform, indoctrinate and recruit new
members as well as to find partners and sex slaves. According
to the recent research conducted by Quilliam, a London-based
counter-terrorism think tank, Islamist radical movement has been using
the online tools, such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, chat rooms and
discussion forums in order to indoctrinate, recruit and teach its new
members.
Moreover,
according to a Fox News report, the Twitter handle @JihadMatchmaker “is
linking up those seeking marriage in Syria in a halal manner.” “Want to
marry a mujahid in Syria? Then [reply with] your age, languages, and
marital status today. Allah is most generous!” a tweet read. There are also reports of British female jihadists forcing captured Iraqi women into sexual slavery at brothels run by the IS.
