Just a few of the Minnesota jihadis

We’ve been hearing a lot on the recruitment of jihadis right here in America, but the mainstream media continues its victimization of those who support ISIS and its violent war against all non-Muslims. A new Associated Press article highlights the Somali community in Minneapolis and makes an effort to place the blame for the jihadists who have already left Minneapolis to fight in Syria or with Al-Shabab in Somalia, as well as those who have yet to leave, on mysterious outsiders who come to recruit Somali youth.

Oh, these poor, disenchanted, would-be jihadis! They are the target of mean men who trick them. These evil extremists arrive, talk about Islam in a religious way, teaching on the Quran, guilting the children into dressing more modestly and staying away from “infidels,” before it all eventually leads up to jihad.

The article, written by Amy Forliti, compares the vulnerable Somali teens to inner-city American kids who are drawn to gangs. It is another case of victimizing the criminals, explaining away their behavior due to a terrible childhood or society or whatever way the world has failed them. The criminals are the victims, not the people who suffered, the people who were raped, tortured… killed.

The teenagers are indoctrinated by the teachings of Islam, but we are meant to believe the fault lies with the mysterious evil men who come to target these poor children, not with Islam itself.

After the Boston Marathon Bombings, an effort to victimize the alleged perpetrators came immediately. The refugee Tsarnaev brothers never fit in, and younger brother Dzhokhar was misled by his older brother, Tamerlan. But Islam? No, no, that has nothing to do with it!

The topic of Islam itself is taboo, as is the widespread endorsement of terrorism within the Muslim community. Instead, we are to focus our attention on the sad situation of naive teenagers, led astray by radicals.

There are Muslim members of the community, according to Forliti, who are attempting to sway these kids away from radicalization with outreach programs, something the Obama Administration recently announced it would begin, following the example of programs already in place in Minnesota. Some areas of Germany also have such programs or “rehab for extremists.” If this approach works, and if Muslims who are against violence are willing to step in, that’s great. However, without a reformation movement in Islam, mainstream mosques will continue to preach the very same violence that is intrinsic to the “religion.”

Radical Muslims are simply following Islamic doctrine, which is taught in mosques around the world, not only in war-torn areas in the Middle East or Africa, but in the West as well. For a little perspective, Law and Freedom Foundation highlights an article by Mordechai Kedar and David Yerushalmi entitled, “Sharia and Violence in American Mosques,” which has the disturbing results of a study done on 100 mosques across the US and what goes on inside. The majority contained violent materials, mostly books and videos, and there was a direct correlation between Sharia-compliant mosques and the violence promoted.

The conclusion to the study? As it states on Law and Freedom’s site: “Nearly three quarters of mosque-goers attend ‘severe’ (offering modern materials with a violent political axe to grind) mosques; just over one fifth go to moderate (predominantly worship and ritual with some positive attitudes towards violence) mosques; and 3.5%, or one in thirty, go to mosques with no violent materials in them.”

Only 3.5% of Muslims who attend mosque are getting the peaceful version of the “religion of peace.”

But ok, let’s blame the recruitment of jihadis on mysterious evil men who invade the otherwise peaceful Somali community.

Amy Forliti’s article features one of the do-gooders in the community:

Ahmed Ismail, athletic director of the West Bank Athletic Club, who is known by many kids as simply “coach,” said keeping young people engaged in school, sports and other positive activities makes them less vulnerable to radical messages.

“We are saving their lives,” he said. “I don’t want to see these kids just dying for nothing.”

Notice how his concern is for the jihadi “kids” dying “for nothing,” rather than for their victims. When are we going to stop victimizing the wrong people and focus on what’s really going on here?
As Muslim immigration has increased, so too has homegrown terrorism. They are not Christian terrorists, or Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist or even Atheist terrorists- they are Muslim. And their terrorism comes from their “faith.”
