On the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, The Daily Caller interviewed Debra Burlingame, the sister of Capt. Charles F. “Chic” Burlingame III, who was murdered by terrorists while piloting American Airlines Flight 77, the hijacked plane that crashed into the Pentagon. As a former TV producer and liberal Democrat, Debra says her “whole world exploded” that day. Following the shock of the event, she transformed her life by learning how to make sense of the barbarity of our adversary and what makes them hate. As the co-founder of 9/11 Families for a Safe and Secure America, she has dedicated her life to meaningful activism and the education of others. In this 27 minute video interview, Debra speaks of the scene in New York City as described to her by a firefighter. He told her, “Imagine that the Twin Towers are two big blenders and somebody turned them on. People lying everywhere. There were body parts from river to river and on the ledges of Brooklyn. It was a massacre of unbelievable proportions.” The New York Times has a riveting site of “Portraits of Grief” for the victims and the loved ones left behind from the individuals personally affected by 9/11. Our enemy, she says with more clarity than our last two presidents, is a “political ideology masquerading as a religion. It is an ideology that says Allah controls every aspect of your life.” They seek global expansion and a global caliphate aimed at defeating the West, she says. Our adversary deliberately deceives people by claiming to be a religion of peace, she claims. When President Obama claims the Islamic State is not Islamic, Burlingame strongly disagrees. “Just because they are violent, doesn’t mean that they are not a religion.” Noting that too few discuss Benghazi as an attack on the anniversary of her brother’s killing, Burlingame says we still don’t know what Ambassador Chris Stevens and the Americans were doing there. When asked about Benghazi, she can’t help but recall hearing President Obama at the Pentagon on September 11, 2012, the exact scene of her brother’s death, when he tried to comfort the families and others gathered by saying Osama bin Ladin was dead and the world is a safer place. “What a huge embarrassment,” Burlingame said. Among other citizen-led efforts, those who follow Burlingame’s website successfully stopped a George Soros funded multi-million dollar museum at Ground Zero to tell a one-sided story of America pleasing to its ideological adversaries. Debra says it is fear and cowardice that prevents the mainstream media from covering stories on this battle.
