Weak' British jihadists face EXECUTION by Islamic State because they want to come home

ISLAMIC State militants have thrown a number of 'weak' British jihadists into jail - because they fear they have grown fed up of the brutal regime and will try to return to the UK.

Around a dozen fighters from Britain are among 40 foreign fighters who have been imprisoned by the Islamic State, on suspicion of wanting to flee the frontline and return back home.

The prisoners are believed to have become upset by the violence carried out against the terror group's hostages and now face execution for wanting to desert the jihadist group.

The British insurgents are said to include a number of teenagers, with the rest in their 20s.

A source told the Daily Mirror: “Anyone suspected of being a spy or a weak member of the organisation in terms of wanting to leave because they have had a change of heart is jailed and faces execution.

“The leaders expect unbending loyalty to the cause of Islamic State and will use the most barbaric means to dissuade fighters from changing their mind."

The terrorist group will not let the fighters leave as they fear they could provide key information to security forces outside of the Middle East.

It comes as Islamic State faces an ongoing threat to its existence, having recently lost the Iraqi city of Tikrit and suffered a number of fatalities in recent weeks.

Amid losses, the terror group has issued high-tech identity cards to members in an attempt to boost morale.

A civil rights activist said: "They want to convince their militants that they’re capable of overcoming the current challenges.

"This step is to raise the insurgents’ morale, especially following the losses in several areas and amid intensified U.S.-led international coalition airstrikes against cities and towns held by the group in both Syria and Iraq."
Around 700 Britons have joined IS to fight in the war zones. However, half of them have already returned to the UK and are being monitored by security forces.
EU Commissioner for Justice, Vera Jourová, said in total 6,000 Europeans have joined the terrorist organisation.
