friends to like this.Mr. Roman will direct the Forum's operations, functioning as chief operating officer. He will supervise, consolidate, and expand existing programs, as well as venture into new fields of activity. He is scheduled to take up this position in August 2015. He has studied national security studies at the American University (in Washington). Mr. Roman has worked in Israel's Defense and Foreign Ministries as well as at the Interdisciplinary Center (in Herzliya, Israel) and the Clarion Fund. He currently serves as head of the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation in Pittsburgh. Ms. Shargel, in her new part-time role, will focus on expanding MEF's fundraising, coordinating its Education Fund, and other tasks. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she also received a master's degree in International Relations, Ms. Shargel helped establish the Middle East Forum in 1994. She has served in a number of positions in the organization and played a central role in its growth. Commenting on these changes, Forum President Daniel Pipes said: "I welcome Gregg Roman's energy and ambitions to MEF, confident that he will make his mark on this organization. I am pleased to take this opportunity publicly to thank Amy Shargel for her over two decades of dedication and accomplishment by my side." The Middle East Forum, a Philadelphia-based think tank, is dedicated to defining American interests in the Middle East and protecting America from Islamist threats. It achieves its goals through intellectual, activist, and philanthropic efforts.
