Islamic Society: The agent of jihad in America

By Mark Christian, M.D.
While there is minor disagreement over the total number, the consensus view is that at least 251 Muslims have attempted some form of violent jihad in the United States since 9/11/01.

Of these, 109 were interdicted by U.S. counterterrorism personnel. Another 121 American Muslims were involved in attempting to join, otherwise materially support or finance known terror groups.
The remaining 21 succeeded in shedding innocent American blood in the name of Islam. Despite clear evidence to the contrary, our government and major media still argue that “true Islam” was not the inspiration for any of these attacks; therefore, we must look to other root causes.

Because of this willful blindness, we are missing a more important commonality among these acts of terror, a circumstance shared by a majority of these perpetrators that we can address quickly and with great effect.

Of the 21 violent attacks on domestic American targets perpetrated by domestic Muslim jihadists (defined as American citizen, naturalized or on long-term visa) at least 12 of those attackers (arguably as many as 17) regularly attended or were significantly linked to Islamic Society mosques.
Now, after the cowardly murder of four U.S. Marines and an American sailor, we learn that the most recent follower of the religion of peace to express his devotion through flying lead was also a regular at the Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga, another ISNA mosque.

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is a tightly run organization whose mission is to subvert Christian doctrine and American law in order to bring about the establishment of Islamic supremacy over North America.

Of course, this isn’t the politically correct assessment; it isn’t even my assessment – it comes from the leaders of the organization itself:

“It is true that Islam stands for the sovereignty of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and Allah’s rules are not limited to the acts of worship, they also include social, economic and political matters. By participating in a non-Islamic system, one cannot rule by that which Allah has commanded. But things do not change overnight. Changes comes through patience, wisdom and hard work. I believe that as Muslims we should participate in the system to safeguard our interests and try to bring gradual change for the right cause, the cause of truth and justice. We must not forget that Allah’s rules have to be established in all lands, and all our efforts should lead to that direction.” (emphasis mine)
– Dr. Muzzamil Siddiqi, ISNA president 1996-2000, current member of Fiqh Council, board member of NAIT

This statement is from a former president of ISNA and current member of the Fiqh Council of North America. The Fiqh Council is an association of Muslims who interpret Islamic law on the North American continent. They are “mainstream Islam” in the United States.

There are 18 members of the Council. They issue religious rulings, settle disputes and answer questions regarding Islam. For a Muslim in America, they are akin to a Supreme Court.
Let’s ask another member of the Fiqh Council about the involvement of Islam in the lives of ISNA mosque attendees:

“… if a Muslim believes that there is any human being who has the right to make laws other than Allah then obviously this is total divergence from the path of Islam. Or any person who believes that secularism is superior to the law of Allah, he’s violating the basic Quranic tenets.”

“The Quran is full of direct and indirect, implicit and many times explicit indications that show that the establishment of the Islamic order is a requirement on Muslims whenever possible.”

– Dr. Jamal Badawi, current member of Fiqh Council
The above referenced statements reveal the foolishness of believing in the fiction of a “moderate Islam” existing apart from a “radical” Islam. They are the same Islam, separated only by degree of devotion to the ultimate goal of absolute supremacy.

Dr. Badawi continues:

“Conceptually, Islam is a complete and comprehensive way of life founded on divine guidance. It makes no distinction between the religious and material aspects of life.”

Islam requires an agent or organization to operate. ISNA is that agent on the North American continent. ISNA plays many roles in the life of a Muslim in America. Part social hub and part embassy, ISNA is involved in virtually every aspect of a Muslim’s life.

There is no daylight between Islam and a Muslim, between Islamic teaching and Islamic practice. Indeed, as Dr. Badawi helpfully explains:

“Islam by its very nature is not a religion in the sense of worship and good deeds and all of that … it is a complete way of living; there is no separation between so called secular and religious … they are intermingled.”

Non-Muslim apologists for Islam dismiss concerns over such an all-encompassing vision, pointing to the concept of separation of church and state as an example of how religious people can coexist peacefully despite differing views.

Again, to Dr. Badawi for the view of the Fiqh Council:

“Although this separation can be understood in terms of the circumstances surrounding the rise of the church and its history in Europe, this doesn’t mean that this principle of separation is either universal or that it has to be imposed on Islam, as Islam has its own system.”

Islam is indeed a thing apart, and reliable polling indicates its adherents have no interest in abandoning a centuries-long goal of world domination in favor of “getting along” with people they consider to be inferior.

So why bring this up? What bearing does this mindset have on the prospect of future domestic terrorism? To answer this question, one need only look to ISNA.

ISNA mosques differ from other mosques in both leadership and organization. Most mosques in the U.S. are small independent affairs, more often than not without a full-time imam. They teach the same Quran and study the same Hadiths as the ISNA mosques, but they are largely autonomous, answering only to their own boards, or at times, small regional affiliations with other area mosques. They generally accept the rulings of the Fiqh Council, but unlike ISNA mosques, they are not punished for failing to do so.

ISNA mosques are highly structured corporate operations with a high degree of similarity in organization and teaching regardless of geographic location.
Think of the independent mosques as “Mom and Pop” stores while ISNA mosques are more like franchises of a large national chain. Just as the shopping experience differs little from one Wal-Mart to the next, so it is with ISNA mosques nationwide.
The Oklahoman who beheaded his co-worker and attempted to behead another was a regular at his local ISNA mosque. Same with the Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hasan, who spent a great deal of his off-duty hours at his local Islamic Society mosque, steeping his brain in the readily available radicalism-du-jour that appears to be an all-too-common thread among ISNA facilities.
According to stellar reporting by the New York Post, the Islamic Society mosque in Boston that was the worship home for the Tsarnaev brothers also features an extensive rogue’s gallery of terrorist attendees such as:
  • Abdurahman Alamoudi, the mosque’s founder and first president, who in 2004 was sentenced to 23 years in prison for plotting terrorism. In 2005, the Treasury Department issued a statement saying Alamoudi raised money for al-Qaida in the U.S.
  •  Aafia Siddiqui, an MIT scientist-turned-al-Qaida agent, who in 2010 was sentenced to 86 years in prison for planning a New York chemical attack. Known as “Lady al-Qaida,” she is related to 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed. ISIS has tried to trade her release for journalist hostages.
  •  Tarek Mehanna, who in 2012 got 17 years in prison for conspiring to use automatic weapons to murder shoppers in a suburban Boston mall.
  • Yusuf al-Qaradawi, a mosque trustee and Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood leader banned from the U.S. after issuing a fatwa that called for the killing of U.S. soldiers.
  • Our Dr. Jamal Badawi, (quoted extensively above) another former trustee who in 2007 was named an unindicted co-conspirator in a plan to funnel more than $12 million to Palestinian suicide bombers.
Keep in mind, this is a list from only one mosque. There are hundreds of Islamic Society mosques across our nation.

While the prospect of investigating mosques is distasteful to a nation raised to respect houses of worship as sanctuaries from the usual societal give and take, the increasing number of “lone wolf”
attacks shows we no longer have the luxury of such deference.

According to a Muslim Brotherhood operative, more than half of the mosques in the West were either founded or acquired by Islamic Society. With the demonstrable correlation between violent acts of terrorism and attendance at an ISNA mosque, it is reckless to avert our eyes from these facilities.

The Islamic Society is no friend to America. Its doctrine of domination is obvious and indefensible.

Our failure to investigate and respond appropriately has cost the lives of many in our nation and will take many more, should we permit our leaders to dismiss our concerns as “Islamophobia.”

It is not Islamophobic to tell the truth about ISNA’s agenda, nor is it Islamophobic to forcefully remind the followers of Muhammad that America permits the free exercise of religion but not the imposition of religion on others.

It is unconscionable to permit delusion to determine policy when lives are at stake, yet each incident featured a concerted effort on the part of our governing and media elite to convince us that to the extent Islam was involved, it was an “un-Islamic” interpretation that was responsible, and that we should instead focus on the vast majority of Muslims who haven’t committed any violence at all.

To which the only responsible answer must be “yet …”

Mark Christian, M.D., was born and raised a devout Sunni Muslim, with strong ties to the Egyptian military and The Muslim Brotherhood, but later ditched Islam and followed Jesus Christ. He is the founder of the Global Faith Institute.
