UANI Ad Highlights Weakness of Inspection Regime that Gives Iran Up to 24 Days to Hide Illicit Nuclear Activity

Second Ad in UANI Education Campaign Notes Past Iranian Cheating

New York, NY - United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) today announced its newest television ad, entitled "Trust," part of a multi-tiered, multi-million-dollar national campaign to educate Americans about the serious shortcomings of the Iran nuclear agreement, which Congress will vote on in September.

The ad focuses on the weakness of the agreement's inspection regime, which prevents international inspectors from quickly gaining access to any suspected nuclear facility in Iran, a critical element of being able to ensure compliance.

"Iran's record of violating past international agreements and its attempt to hide a secret enrichment facility deep inside a mountain bunker make the agreement's verification measures all the more critical," said UANI CEO Mark D. Wallace, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. and UANI Chairman Joseph I. Lieberman, former U.S. senator from Connecticut. "The Obama Administration pledged that 'anytime, anywhere' international inspections would be a key element of any satisfactory agreement, but they have failed to uphold that standard. In its place is a complex, bureaucratic process that gives Iran the power to stall inspections of suspected nuclear facilities for up to 24 days. The American people deserve to know about what was promised versus what was delivered and to reach their own conclusions about whether this agreement serves America's national security interests and those of our allies."

Last week, UANI resumed its national education campaign on the Iran nuclear deal with an ad entitled "Leave No Man Behind." The ad focuses on the fact that the agreement ignores the fate of four U.S. hostages who continue to be held under inhumane conditions in Iran.

UANI is a non-profit, non-partisan education and advocacy group founded in 2008 to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. An outspoken and tireless advocate for implementation of a robust sanctions regime against Iran, UANI has been in the vanguard of efforts to ensure that any U.S. agreement with Iran is solidly in the national security interests of the United States and precludes Tehran's efforts to develop nuclear weapons.
