UANI Applauds Organization of Islamic Cooperation Statement

OIC Condemns Iran's Regional Aggression

New York, NY - United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), the nonpartisan, not-for-profit advocacy organization known for its efforts to heighten awareness of the danger the Iranian regime poses to the world, issued the following statement today regarding the OIC Communique condemning Iran's destabilizing regional behavior.  The statement is attributable to UANI Chairman Senator Joseph I. Lieberman and UANI CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace:

We applaud the OIC for calling the world's attention to Iran's nefarious and destabilizing behavior.  The Supreme Leader's subsequent comments praising the terrorist organization Hezbollah for "shining like the sun" simply reinforces the concerns of the OIC, and reveals that the fundamental nature of the Iranian regime remains unchanged in the aftermath of the nuclear deal.  A leopard can't change its spots.

Iran has certainly earned its designation as a state sponsor of terrorism in recent months: its continued support for Hezbollah and other extremist proxies has threatened Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.  That's not to mention Tehran's rekindling of ties with Hamas and Islamic Jihad and its launching of ballistic missiles stamped with "Israel must be wiped off the map," in defiance of UN Resolution 2231.

The OIC Communique-issued by more than 50 Muslim nations-is a strong step forward in rallying the international community to hold the Islamic Republic and its terror proxies accountable for their irresponsible and deplorable behavior worldwide."

Following the publication of Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif's op-ed in the Washington Post on April 20, Ambassador Wallace and Senator Lieberman published a letter to the editor on April 24, refuting its arguments, condemning the piece, and highlighting Iran's reprehensible behavior.
